Behavior Analysis is the Scientific Study of Human Behavior. It consists of three major branches of study: Behaviorism, Experimental Analysis of Behavior or basic research and Applied Behavior Analysis or the development of a technology for improving socially significant behavior (Cooper et al., 2007).
Behavior Analysts study behavior—the activity of living organisms (Cooper, et al., 2007). Although the study of behavior includes single responses, applied behavior analysts are interested in larger sets of socially significant behavior (Cooper et al., 2007).
ABA Therapy is defined as the systematic application of the principles of learning theory and motivation from behavior analysis in which the procedures and technology derived from those principles are used for the solution of problems of social significance (Cooper, et al. 2007).
ABA is effective in education, healthcare, business management, and animal training applications. It is the only scientifically validated treatment for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
